Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an action oriented, solution focused, humanist approach to emotional growth that emphasises the individual’s capacity for controlling, altering and creating their emotional states. It educates people in how the past affects the present. It focuses on currently held attitudes emotions and behaviours known to be self-defeating for the person, and blocks their development, thus limiting their life experience. It helps clients to change maladaptive thinking and behaviour to more healthy realistic alternatives and establishes new more constructive patterns for living a more fulfilling life.

CBT Testimonials
Easily accessible, quiet and peaceful venue, the course was very well researched; the content was very informative and engaging, presented with excellent PowerPoint and notes. I enjoyed very minuet of it. In comparison to similar courses it was very good value for money. I have been able to integrate the tools and techniques with good results. My learning about CBT is invaluable and I had positive interactions with the student group. (Sara Donovan, Rape Crises Counsellor 2007).
I feel I have made personal changes during this course, I feel that I have gained the skills and techniques to pull myself back up after distressing experiences at work and change my thoughts patterns when Negative Automatics Thought arrive. I would strongly recommend this course to others. Compared to other schools of training I have experienced, CHATS was excellent. Kathleen Doherty (Child Social Worker/ Counsellor 2007).
This was a very enjoyable course. The trainer’s delivery, expertise and wide range of experience made it a joy to attend. I learned much about life as well as how to help others. I have paid twice the price for half the learning experienced on other courses. This course has enabled me to make changes in my personal life and I have been able to integrate some of the techniques such a DTR’s and SUD’s in my work. The best about the course for me was the excellent delivery of the CBT knowledge and skills which gave the class confidence to use these skills in the future. I would recommend it to others. Theresa Melaugh, (Education Welfare Officer and CRUSE Counsellor 2007).
This course was great value for money. The teaching approach was very practical and I was able to make changes in my professional psychotherapy practice and my specialised work in weight management and life style changes. The ‘step by step’ information using the new skills was great for me. I would recommend it to others. (John Niblock, Psychotherapist and Coach 2007).
This course was very well presented with lots of notes and very informative on CBT. I have used it on lots of my clients and would recommend it to others.(Ann Boyle, Rape Crises Counsellor 2007).
