Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
This is a integration of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hatha Yoga training. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has shown us that it is not so much the stressor itself, but how it is interpreted, and how we react to that perception that determines whether or not we experience distress in response to a stressor.By cultivating mindfulness we learn to relate to our experience with less anxiety and fear, allowing more space and reflection between experience and perception. With this skill, we can move from mindless reactivity to thoughtful considered responses, from a sense of urgency to an inner peace. We bring a more compassionate attitude towards ourselves and our situations and therefore cause ourselves less suffering through un-resourceful reactive habits (e.g. addictions, violence or carelessness).
Dr Helena Schlindwein Ph.D. is a well known Yoga teacher and has been teaching Hatha Yoga and Yoga philosophy since 1985 (YFNI). And integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy since 2002 (NRHP). This MBCT course is an integration of both of these disciples.
